your attempt to avoid certain doom at the hands of exponential-ish growth: a tower defense game
A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android
Can you defend?
You control a small army of ships trying to defend earth from a very scary threat: an out of control self-replicating space probe, which can easily overwhelm the unsuspecting defender.
Buy and upgrade ships, and dynamically move them around the screen by clicking and dragging. Good ship coordination is key to defeating the threat!
Pause Menu
While the game is paused, you're still able to look at ship upgrades or the "info" tabs in the shop! Just note that you have to unpause before you can buy anything.
Mobile Support
This game fulfills my long-term goal of making at least one game playable on phones. Trying it on your phone is encouraged!
Open Source
You can find the source code to this game on GitHub.
Credits
Almost everything in this game was made from scratch during Godot Wild Jam #60, with the exception of some code that I wrote previously that I often re-use (e.g. SFXRand.gdscript).
The font used is Audiowide.
Known Issues
- Freeplay is intended to eventually outrun your defensive abilities, but right now it seems possible to defend potentially forever (even as the game becomes more janky with stronger and stronger enemies).
